Obituary of Darren Keith Orchyk

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Darren Keith Orchyk.

He was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the age of 53, after a long battle with cancer.

Darren passed away with his wife Dianne at his side.

Darren was born on November 19, 1970 in Steinbach, MB.

He was a devoted Husband, Brother, Father and Grandfather.

Darren had experience in a variety of work throughout his life including his initial employment at Style-Rite, tow truck driver as well as other factory and construction work. However the job he loved the most was driving truck with his favorite partner Sheldon at Penner International. They would spend their long hours on the road listening to the music cranked all the way up while enjoying lots of snacks. They would typically come home after each run having all kinds of goofy new stories to share.

He had a passion for writing music, playing guitar, sitting around a fire, cooking and barbecuing. If you knew Darren you will know how much he loved his chocolate milk and especially his eggnog at Christmas time.

Above all else Darren loved Jesus and his family.

Darren and Dianne were married on May 15, 2015. They shared an incredible nine years together.

Darren loved to travel and their favourite vacation together was to Jasper, Alberta.

Darren talked about going back to Jasper with Dianne up until his last days.

Their faith was at the centre of their marriage and their love for each other was unlike any other.

Darren was predeceased by his mother Margaret Orchyk.

He is survived by his loving wife Dianne Orchyk, his father Stan Orchyk, his mother-in-law Susan Dueck, his brothers and sisters-in-law Menno (Ann), Johanna (Richard), Dennis (Betty), and Edna (Richard); his siblings Roma, Marvin (Sherry), his sons Justin Orchyk (Dixie), Collin Orchyk and Tristan Orchyk, his step-children Clayton (Tabitha), Carissa (Jordan) and his grandchildren Hayden, Maisen, Brier, Fallynn, Bram, and Elizabeth.

Darren led a life of true integrity. He was a gentle and kind man with a beautiful heart who loved unconditionally. Darren was the definition of patience and he was encouraging to everyone around him. He had a deep passion for sharing Gods word with others. He will be deeply missed.

All of his family would like to send a special thank you to the palliative care team and the Rehab unit staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach.

A private celebration of life will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.wycliffe.ca in memory of Darren.
