Obituary of Remie Brandt

Remie (Cyril) Brandt of Ross, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Ste. Anne Hospital, Ste. Anne, MB., at the age of 95.

Left to mourn his passing are his children: James, Janice (Guy) Chammartin, Russell (Deborah), Audrey (Dwayne) Delipper, his brothers and sisters: Andrew (Julliette), Maurice, Margaret (Amee) Carriere, Alice (Richard) Lesage, and Georgette Saltel. Brothers-in-law Harry Smith and Don Warkentine. Sisters-in-law Mary Jane Orvis and Margaret Linquist.

To cherish his memory are his grandchildren: Joseph (Kellie) Chammartin, Madeline (Ryan) Dumont, Matthew (Lynne) Chammartin, Danielle (Christopher) Kirpluk, Sarah (Benedict) Dacanay, Misty Bowman, Jaden (Carolyn) Brandt, Laura (Erik) Bonnefoy, Taben (Rihana) Brandt, Adam (Jessica) Delipper, Suzanne (Matt) Wiebe, Grant (Eva) Stranger, Bradley Spence, Emily (Malachi) Delipper.

And his great-grandchildren: Elena (A.J,) Giesbrecht, Sophie, Riley, Andrew, Lucy and Fiona Chammartin, Grace, Noah, Christian, Jude, Mara, and Seth Dumont. Jax, Stellan, Avery and Mila Chammartin. Samson, Violet, Eve, Maximillon, and Teddy Kirpluk. Micah, Mateo, Nina and Cora Dacanay. Isaac Bowman. Greta, Maeve, Zelie, Peter, and Hattie Bonnefoy. Arrabella Clark and Xavier Stranger. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Remie was predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Elders), his brother George. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Walter & Louise Hagen, Jeanine Elders, John & Alberta Elders, Teresa Smith, Robert & Mary Elders, Clarence Linquist, Leslie Orvis, Cecelia Warkentine, Florent Saltel and great-grandson Isaiah Chammartin.

Remie was born February 22,1929, in Somerset, Manitoba, and the family moved to Ross when he was ten. He met Helen in Ontario, while working to build the TransCanada highway. After marrying they settled in Ross, where he was determined to stay his whole life. He was an animal lover from a young age and rarely didn’t have any around his hobby farm.  He enjoyed farm life, playing cards, fishing, carpentry projects, gardening and spending time with friends and family. Special thank you to Roger Lily for his loyal friendship over the past years. Thank you also to Ste Anne hospital for their great care this last month of his life.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Parish, Ste Anne, MB. To join the family via livestream, please click HERE shortly before the time of the service.
