Obituary of Ronald Rougeau

Ronald Louis Rougeau, at the age of 66 years, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023, with his partner, Joanie and his siblings by his side.

Ron will be dearly missed by his family. He was predeceased by his son, Jeremy, and his parents, Millie and Gerard. He will be dearly missed by his best friend and partner of 14 years, Joanie, her children, Leona (Brian) and Russell, 3 grandchildren, and Joanie's family. He will also be missed by his siblings, Gisele, Doreen (Tom), Marc (Nicole), and Brian (Corinne), and many uncles and aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ron was born in Winnipeg, the second of five Rougeau children. At a young age he loved spending time at the lake fishing and exploring the outdoors. He was very adventurous whether he was fishing or flying his hang glider at Twin Beaches, he was always looking for his new adventure.

Ron’s family always had music in their lives. Ron played drums in a band with his dad, Jerry and his uncle Rolly. You could always find them playing at socials and weddings in and around Winnipeg.

He had a love for tinkering with cars. In his teen years he bought and rebuilt several classic cars and in his later years built and worked on his trucks. No idle hands for Ronnie!

He was a hardworking man, self employed and owning his own Residential and Commercial painting company and later installing drywall in the construction industry. He invented and patented a painting tray and drywall jig always looking for innovative ways to help with his trades. Ron had a creative talent for interior design and his signature plaster swirls adorned many walls and ceilings. He spent a lifetime perfecting his trade, he was good at it and continued in retirement helping friends and family with their projects! Ron was talented, loyal, and always willing to help out family and friends.

Ron spent the last 14 years of his life living with Joanie in Sandilands. He loved living in the country. He could always be found with his coffee puttering in his garage, working on something. He took pride in his work, built a snowplow for his truck and a cement mixer for his tractor. He gutted and renovated an old camper and built his own trailer. He and Russell spent the last summer preparing the foundation for a cabin he was building – all by hand. He worked hard always. No job was impossible for Ron.

Ron dedicated his life to God in 1993, shortly after losing his son. He enjoyed watching documentaries and Bible studies online. Ron, you will be missed, onto your new adventure Bro! The family would like to extend thanks to the paramedics who took Ron for his last ride and the nurses and support staff on in ER and NU2 at Bethesda Hospital for your care of Ron and his family in their time of need.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
