Obituary of Maria Funk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Funk, of Grunthal, MB., on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB., at the age of 79. 

Maria was predeceased by her husband Peter T. Funk, her son Wilfred, her granddaughter Meagan, as well as her parents, three brothers, and one sister-in-law. She leaves to mourn; her daughter Susie (Cornie), her sons: John (Sharon), Rudi (Alvina), Andy (Martha), Arthur, Jonathan, John-Wayne, Theresa, Dustin, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her six brothers, seven sisters and their families.   

Maria was born on February 3, 1942, in Chaco, Paraguay.  She was an amazing woman who was always willing to lend a hand whether it was leading children’s singing in church, shopping for meals on wheels, making and donating blankets to be sent overseas, giving of her time to work at the MCC, and giving selflessly to provide a safe home for many foster children over her lifetime.  

Those who loved Maria will remember her for her love of crocheting, her chicken noodle soup, her homemade pickles, her collection of dolls, and her new love of diamond art!  She left those around her with a great example to follow.  

 A come & go viewing for 10 people at a time will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach.

The private family livestreamed service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. 

Interment will take place at Grunthal Cemetery, Grunthal, MB.
