Dear Katie, Jonathan and Andrew
As my grade 4 teacher at Southwood - Mr. Giesbrecht taught me so much. There was always a twinkle in his eyes and a zest for life. We had some educational adventures that year that definitely made an impression on me. My sincere sympathies to you all and your extended family. Wishing you peace at this time. Michelle Hauri

Hi Katie and family, I'm so sorry for the passing of your husband and father. I had Mr Giesbrecht as my grade 6 teacher in Elmdale approx 1979. Yes, he was a "firm" teacher but cared about the education we were taught. If he had to deal with students like me, sometimes firmness was necessary! But along with his firmness and order, he also encouraged us to do our best in whatever we tried. God gave him the gift to teach and he was good at it. May you know God's peace and comfort now and always as you grieve, knowing that your parting is not forever. In Christ, Sharlene (Costinak) Reimer

Dave was definitely one of my favorite elementary school teachers. He was a mentor of morals and ethics to all his students! I had the pleasure of knowing him later in life at church and of course when we met in Penner Foods where I worked. Later in life, our paths would cross again after our dad passed away and left behind a huge HO scale model railway setup. Dave took the entire set from us and added it to the railway setup upstairs in the Pat Porter center. What a fitting tribute to the hard work dad put into his favorite hobby. Thank You Dave!!

Dear Katie and family;
Our condolences to you in your loss. We appreciated your friendship and the times we were able to connect with you back in the days when we lived in Steinbach. We remember that you looked after Darren when he was a baby, and we remember as well the sorrow you experienced in those days as you waited for children to become part of your family. The last time we connected with you was probably when we were able to have a meal together after a concert in Morden.
We pray that God's love and care will surround you during this time of loss, and we pray that you will find joy in good memories, and in celebrating Dave's life and his home going.

Condolences to the family. I doubt I have met any of you, but I did have 'Mr Giesbrecht' as a teacher in Elmdale, 1981 if I recollect correctly. We bumped into one another on occation. I appriciated him as a teacher, and a man after God's heart. God be with you.

Dear Katie and family,
My sincere Condolences. It is one thing to lose a parent or a sibling, but a spouse is different. The good part is that you know where he is now, without pain and struggle. May God's grace be sufficient for these difficult days ahead. Praying for you for strength for the lonely days ahead.
Your Cousin

Mr. Giesbrecht was my Grade 5 teacher in Southwood Elementary School (1995/96). He taught me a lot about patience and forgiveness. I received a student gift from him (as all my classmates did too); I still have it, and it reminds me of the good memories I had in his class. I am very thankful that a few years ago I bumped into him at McDonald's and was able to chat and reminisce about the past with him a bit. My deepest condolences and prayers go to the Giesbrecht Family.

The teacher in Dave came out readily in conversations as well as his desire to gain knowledge, this made for interesting conversations. Our prayers are with you Katie, Walter & Irene Toews
