We have known Traudi\s family since we all lived in Paraguay. When we and they moved to Winnipeg, we saw each other in church, and got to know Traudi when she was growing up. She was very involved in church work, and was attending our Pioneer Girls program. Our kids were younger, but we did see her how she loved being involved with kids. Her parents later lived across the street from us, so we did a lot of visiting. Her Mom ,Wera was so proud of her and her family, and the brothers and their families. It was a close family and we know how much Traudi will be missed by everyone. Our deepest Condolences to everyone.
Sincerely Peter and Betty

I was so sad and shocked to read that Traudi had passed away! I met Traudi as we both took on our first teaching assignments in Grunthal. We spent many hours after school learning how to be best at our jobs, and how to be supportive of each other as colleagues and friends. I moved away after two years, but never forgot the times or the people I spent time with. Traudi was a big part of it. Her positive, energetic personality, her smile and infectious laugh were a constant – and created sweet memories. My heart goes out to those closest to her, especially to Dennis and her family. I am so sorry for your loss my deepest condolences to you and the family. I first met Traudi at Southwood school back in 2007 when I was there as an EA, then 2 years later I went to get my degree. She was always so supportive and encouraging and just so real. I loved working with her and then after she retired our paths continued to cross through subbing in the division. I could always count on her to be a friend to be a friendly face someone to be real and honest with. With Traudi you could be yourself- that’s what I loved about her. She was an amazing teacher, she was fun & she enjoyed dressing up and getting into character for her little students. I learned a lot from her as a new teacher and I always appreciated her knowledge & wisdom. I will miss her and am so sad to hear of her passing. I am sure her long teaching career, she will have so many former students that will be sad to hear of her passing. God be with you and your family & that He will bring you comfort & peace at this very difficult time. I can’t imagine your sorrow.

Teaching was definitely Traudi’s calling. We spent countless hours in her parents basement on Sutton Avenue where she was determined that all the neighborhood kids would read and write before they started school. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and send my heartfelt condolences to her parents and brothers. I am so sorry for your loss Tante Wera. Hildy Dyck ( Braun )

I was deeply saddened to hear of Traudi's sudden passing. My heart goes out to her family.
It feels as though I've known her forever. Our parents were friends, but it wasn't until our family moved to North Kildonan in grade 6, one block away from her home, that our friendship began. There are so many memories: singing harmony to Simon & Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence" on the way to Pioneer Girls or Youth at church, going to Grand Beach in her Mustang, being a part of her & Dennis' wedding, a few trips to Grand Forks. Traudi was good at keeping in touch, and we shared many long talks and laughs at the Olive Garden in later years, and during Covid times, over the phone. I am so grateful for those times. Traudi was caring, funny, full of adventure and loyal. I will miss my dear friend very much.
My prayers for God's comfort go to Dennis, Caroline, Tom, Traudi's parents, brothers and exended family.

I can hardly believe that Traudi is gone! Although it’s 40 years since Traudi and I were part of a new group of teachers starting our careers in Grunthal, that era feels like yesterday. I remember Traudi’s vivacious personality, her ready wit and contagious laugh. The online service for her this morning was beautiful! Her brother’s descriptions of the pictures and stories about Traudi, Thomas’ reading of his mom’s obituary, and Caroline’s piano solo for her mom all show how much she was loved! My heart goes out to Dennis and all of Traudi’s family!

Sincere condolences to the family. I have very fond memories working with Traudi when she was the Sunday School choir director at Elim. Her giftedness of working with children and dedication to putting together top notch programs was an inspiration for many of us. She spent many many hours pouring into the children and for this she will be remembered and muchly appreciated. May you be comforted in this difficult time by those around you lifting you up in prayer.

Thank you for the beautiful tribute and service you planned to honour Traudi’s life. It was wonderful to work alongside her at Southwood School and see her passion for her students and their families. I also remember our many visits in my office, her classroom, in the hallway and on the parking lot! I appreciated her care for the school community and her colleagues! What I also loved is that she would often talk about her family, show us pictures and tell great stories! It was evident that she cared deeply for her family members! I will pray for peace for your family and that your life is filled with many beautiful memories, great stories and anecdotes to share with the next generation!

To the family of Traudi, I am so sorry for your loss. Traudi was a great woman that I had the privilege of knowing both as a student and as a colleague. I was assigned to Traudi’s grade one class as her student teacher in 2010/2011. Under her amazing guidance and example I completed my last year of student teaching. Traudi worked tirelessly in the classroom; coming early and staying late. She poured her heart and soul into teaching and I was so fortunate to have her as a mentor. We would often chat at the end of the day and Traudi would entertain me with stories about her many teaching experiences. I have Traudi to thank for getting me my first teaching job, she went above and beyond as my mentor to put in a “good word” for me.
I also had the opportunity to work with Traudi as a colleague after she “retired” and started subbing. When I booked her as a sub, I knew the students were in good and capable hands. She continued to have a passion for teaching and caring for students. She will be missed as she made a difference in so many lives including my own.

Mrs Guenther (Ms, Teichroeb back then) was my grade 4 teacher. She also taught 2 of my kids in Southwood School. My kids have very fond memories of her as their teacher! It was always a privilege when I could parent volunteer in her class. I appreciated her love for her students, especially the ones who needed a bit more patience and consideration! I admired the way Mrs Guenther motivated them and pulled out the best in her students. I was very thankful that she prayed with the kids before they ate lunch and she brought her faith into the classroom with the stories and movies she shared! She was one of my kids favorite teachers!
I am so sorry for your loss! Praying for you to have incredible peace during this very difficult time!.

Best memories of Traudi and all the cousins at Boxing Day family gatherings and summer weekends at Grand Beach. Miss those days. My sincere condolences to the Guenther and Teichroeb families. Traudi was a dear cousin and a great person. As children our families were always together at Christmas and for summer picnics, trips to the beach and fishing. Our families grew and gatherings became less frequent and we started families of our own. But those times together as children, going to camp together at 11 and meeting up at family gatherings are special memories of Traudi. We are shocked and saddened and our prayers are with Dennis, Caroline and family and Tom and family. My heart and prayers also go out to her parents Vera and Hein, her brother Vern and wife Brenda and family and to brother Wilf and his wife Lisa and their family. Love, hugs and prayers from Richard and Ingrid Miller

Dear Family,
From our family to yours, our deepest sympathies and condolences.
I thank you Traudi for the many years we taught together at South Oaks. I was in grade one and you in grade two. I thank you for your stories and the laughter. You had a way with words and you had that sometimes sneaky smile that made me wonder, am I in trouble or are you up to something? :)
You made sure your students excelled in all subjects, you loved perfect penmanship and doing special crafts. Your students always got fabulous treats, birthday and Christmas gifts. They knew they were loved. I will miss seeing your beautiful face and talking about the good old days with you!
Sending you our love and prayers Dennis, Caroline, Bob, Kaylen, Maelyn, Tom, Michelle ,Emily ,Gwen, Jerry and Evelyn, Carol and Sheldon and families. A big hug to you all. God is the healer of all broken hearts. I pray you feel His presence near at this time of deep sorrow.

Back in the late seventies and early eighties, when our world was very young and dinosaurs could still be seen from time to time on our horizon; we were a young group of teachers starting our careers at Green Valley School in Grunthal.
Every new school day started at four o’clock, right after the previous day was finished. We were all first and second year teachers and our life revolved around teaching. Often we would go to the restaurant across from the store, after school, for a milkshake and a plate of fries, to debrief after the day. Then we went back to school to prepare for the next day. We would be correcting the student’s work taken in during the day, clipping the corner of workbook pages that were completed and correct. Then we planned our lessons for the next day; duplicating worksheets, writing lessons on the chalkboard and preparing our teaching models.
Around eight we would pack up the work still left to finish, and then we would all meet at Traudi and Gloria’s or Doris’s apartment or Kathleen’s house for supper and wine. After dinner we would all go home to sleep and the next morning, our day would start in our classrooms, students would arrive, teaching started and we were on our way: math, reading, spelling, science, forming bonds with students, recess duty, lunch supervision and everything else that made up a teacher’s day. After four we were back to planning, meeting at the diner and back to prepping for the next day and then relaxing in the evening.
The camaraderie built between all the teachers created a bond that lasted a lifetime. Traudi, Gloria, the school secretary, Wendy, Doris, Grant, Barb, Lynda, Moira, Kathleen, Erwin, we were young and full of ideals and energy, on our way to becoming career teachers.
Over the years our lives changed, as we moved to new schools, married, started families and everything else that moved our lives forward.
Traudi was immediately a great teacher. She had an inner teacher or something, she knew how to teach. It took me a lot longer to figure everything out. Traudi also had a way of recognizing students in need and has often helped children deal with difficult experiences.
After Traudi retired we would meet up in Grunthal. It was always pleasant to catch up and reconnect. It was no surprise to me when Traudi said she was back in the classroom; teaching extended term positions. I saw her love of the students and her love of teaching return and flourish again.
Goodbye good friend, rest in peace, your day’s work is done.

I had the privilege of working with Traudi in different school contexts over the years. I would say that Traudi taught with courage. If something was needed for the children, she would advocate for that. If something wasn't working in the school, she would tell you. In this way, she was a leader and many people respected her for that.
I agree with the family that teaching was not a profession for Traudi, it was her life. She poured her heart and soul into the work. That must have come at a cost at times, but if you asked her whether the children were worth it, you know she would say "Yes".
I really appreciated Traudi as a sub because she engaged the role with her extensive "tool box" and managed any scenario with competence. I will always treasure the chats we would have at the end of the day. Instead of leaving school as soon as possible, she would sometimes stop by my office and we would talk about teaching and about life. She had a lot of wisdom.
I will miss you Traudi. Thanks for the many ways you enriched my life and the lives of your students and colleagues over the years. You taught with such courage and compassion. You have left a legacy of care and love for those who knew you. Thank-you.

Sweet memory:
I had made arrangements with the principal and teacher that when there had to be a sub in our youngest son's class, to let me know so I could pick him up from school, as he found having a substitute teacher very difficult. Somehow, if Mrs.G came in to sub, I never got a call. In fact, when he came home, I didn't even know there had been a Sub in class that day. When I bumped into Mrs.G and told her that, it brought tears to her eyes. She knew that he had some difficulties, and somehow she managed to help him make it through the day. He felt like she really cared about him and his needs. Took the time to give a hug and to encourage him.

My sincerest condolences to Traudi’s family. I didn’t know her for very long but I teach at Southwood where she subbed quite a bit. She subbed for me many times and we often chatted in the staff room. Traudi always had stories to tell about her many years in the classroom and I learned a lot from her. Even as a sub she was extremely dedicated and made sure everything was done and ready for when the teacher came back to school; she was often one of the last teachers to leave the building.
