Obituary of Aron G. Penner

Peacefully, Aron Penner of Landmark, Manitoba and beloved husband of Linda, passed away suddenly October 5, 2000 in his 74th year, in Linden, Alberta. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Linda, his devoted wife of 46 years, children Ron (Marcella), Gail, Dean (Carolyn), Abe (Liz) and Ivan, grandchildren Blaine, Craig, Jenee, Jordan, Shannon, Nicole and Christopher, brothers and sisters: Harvey (Edna) Penner, Lea, Neil (Esther) Penner and Elma (Robert) Toews, sister-in-laws Nettie Penner and Mary Penner and brother-in-law Dan (Mary) Reimer. He was predeceased by sons: Keith, Byron and Johnny, his parents Abraham and Aganetha Penner and six brothers and one sister. Aron was born March 11, 1926 near present day Landmark where he continued to live for the next 70 years of his life. In his 14th year, he gave his life to the Lord. He married Linda Isaac on June 23, 1954. Together they raised eight children. Three sons died in a train accident in 1964. Dad especially enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren. Aron was a partner in a lumber business with his brother Allen in his early years and eventually went into earth moving on his own and later with his sons which he really enjoyed. During the early years many winters were spent in the bush sawing lumber. Many friends and fond memories were formed during this time. He was also a farmer for most of his life, especially viewing his chicken farming as a challenge. Dad enjoyed nature, including trees and flowers. We have special memories from the last summer of his life, when we went looking for wild flowers he remembered from his youth. Also when we viewed the flowers at the English Gardens. Dad was not too ready to buy flowers, but when driving down the road kept one eye on traffic and the other on the ditch. If he spotted a special flower, he was happy to stop the car, walk into the ditch and pick it. The family would like to thank Dr. Lemoine and the nurses at Ste. Anne Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Dad during his illness. Funeral service was held at Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church in Landmark at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2000. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
