Katharina (Sawatsky) Harder, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with her Lord, whom she loved, on June 27, 2000 at the Grunthal Menno Home for the Aged, Grunthal, Manitoba having reached age of 99 years and 10 months. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Katherina (Neufeld) Sawatsky, her husband Henry K. Harder in 1979, daughter Maria in 1931, son-in-law Jim Enns in 1988, grandson Jerry Martens in 1998, grandson Tommy Friesen in 1998, sisters Helen, Sarah, Mary and Peggy. She is survived by five daughters: Kay Harder, Grunthal, Aggie Enns, Paris, Arkansas, Walter and (Susan) Heinrichs, Steinbach, Charles and (Anne) Gawley, Wpg., Art & (Lena) Bartel, Kleefeld; three sons: Harry and Anne Harder, Kleefeld; Peter & Anne Harder, Steinbach, Ed & Lena Harder, Rosenort; three sisters: Anna Hildebrand, Winkler, Eva Dyck, Abbotsford, B.C., Susan Doerksen, Niverville; one brother Peter (Marie) Sawatsky, Wpg.; 26 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Mom’s gracious and generous hospitality was enjoyed by family and friends, both young and old. She was a faithful member of the Grunthal CMC and seldom missed church functions. She loved gardening and enjoyed nature in general. Until just a few years ago she regularly attended the World Adventure Tours together with the Grunthal New Horizons Group. She loved us all without reservation and she was loved by all of us in return. We’ll miss you, Mom. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2000 at Kleefeld .E.M.C. at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Abe Funk officiating. Interment to follow in Grunthal Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 2, from 7-8 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service.
